5 Tips on Your Mindfulness Journey

Mindfulness is a practice of being fully present and engaged in the moment. Mindfulness has been shown to be beneficial in reducing stress, anxiety and even physical pain. By practicing mindfulness people have found increased quality of sleep and ability to focus and happiness.

If you think you may benefit, we encourage you to explore a few of the options below.

  • Meditation

Mediation helps to develop the foundation of mindfulness. Using guided meditation apps like headspace for example can help you to become more familiar with being present and aware of your thoughts

  • Journaling

Journaling can be used as a reflective tool. By writing as the thoughts come into your mind you are able to reflect on how something made you feel and then move past it. People have found journaling to help them further understand themselves, their values and what motivates them.

  • Practicing gratitude

Gratitude is the appreciation of the good or what has gone well. We challenge you to reflect at the end of the day on what three things went well. It can be easy to get caught up in stress or what went wrong that we can easily lose sight on the good.

  • Focus on one task at a time

Focusing on one task at a time has been shown to help with mental clarity, efficiency and feeling of productivity. Try to set yourself a realistic task and remove any outside distraction. There is no such thing as a good multitasker!

  • Do what you love and do it intentionally

Take time for yourself to do what you love. It is important we schedule ourselves time to do what we love instead of only doing things we love when we have spare time. It is important the we STOP. START. RESET. and do it with purpose.

Finding what works best for you takes time and practice.
