REFORMER PILATES
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
A Reformer Pilates session offers many advantages, such as:
Resistance training: through the use of the springs, resistance levels can be adjusted to the goal of the exercise and of the individual. The resistance training helps to improve strength and stability
Improving Posture and Alignment: Reformer Pilates has an emphasis on body alignment and awareness. Overall, these aspects can improve posture as the exercises involve precision and control.
Low-impact exercise: Due to the nature of being able to lie down on the reformer carriage and complete resistance exercises, it takes gravity out of the occasion. This means if you have joint issues or are recovering from injuries you can complete strengthening exercises without the pressure.
Flexibility: Reformer Pilates allows for movements that promote flexibility and increased range of motion as it incorporates stretching and lengthening exercises.
Core strengthening: At the centre of all Pilates practice is core strength and control. The reformer is particularly effective at targeting these muscles and concepts and assists with reducing pain, improving stability and improving balance.
There are many benefits to Reformer Pilates. Why not give it a go and see how it can assist you!
WHAT IS REFORMER PILATES?
Reformer Pilates utilises a reformer machine to complete Pilates based exercises to improve flexibility, strength, balance and overall body awareness.
The Pilates reformer is a bed-like frame that has a flat platform, called a carriage, that moves with resistance. The resistance is formed by attaching the carriage by different levels of springs. Resistance is changed based on the exercises and the goal of your Pilates session. Exercises on the reformer machine can be done lying down, in standing, kneeling, on the reformer or while standing off the reformer and using the resistance of the carriage.
At CAH, Reformer Pilates is often utilised within a treatment session but is also available for 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 sessions. A Reformer Pilates session can be used for both rehabilitation and for performance goals.
